    New owner help

    First time boat owner. Excited about my 2005 SV-211, but I need a bunch of help. Here goes:

    1. Docking lights? How do you turn them on?

    2. Thinking about replacing the courtesy lights with LEDs. How hard is it to get the old ones off and the new ones on? Worth it? I am thinking of replacing with ones from nautiqueparts. Thoughts?

    3. Thinking of replacing cup holders with LED or SS ones. Opinions? How hard is this to do if I go LED? I have no electrical experience. None!

    4. The Shower button and Heater buttons turn on at the dash, but nothing happens. All indications are that these features are not on my boat. If that's the case, why do they turn on and light up? How do I verify that? If I go with LED cup holders, can they be wired to the shower button? Is this a DIY project? That way I could turn on courtesy lights with one button, then have another button control the LED cup holders? Bad idea? Got a better idea?

    5. Last one! Wanting to eventually replace carpet with seadek. Concerned about seadek holding water. With the carpet, I can snap it out at the end of a day on the lake. Can't do that with seadek. Looking to hear about those who have upgraded.

    1. press the courtesy lights/docking lights button and hold until the docking lights come on. One quick press turns the courtesy lights on. One long press turns the docking lights on too.

      2. If you're using 12 volt LED's, it's as simple as hooking up speaker wires. Cut and splice + and -. There's plenty of room in the courtesy light circuit to switch everything over to LED and add a lot of whatever you want-as long as it's LED.

        3. SS cup holders are great unless you plan to have a "bumpin" stereo system. If so, plan to deal with a lot of rattling. You can get the same cup holders that are lit as well as rubber lined like the new, current factory ones, but they're expensive.

          4. Shower is a great idea a few times a year, but mostly worthless. I had one for 11 years and only used it a few times just because it was there. Guess it depends on your climate. Heater should be obvious if you have one or not. Wives LOVE heaters. So do fair weather friends that are on the fence about going out or not depending on weather. Heaters are a must-have IMO.

            5. If Seadeck holds water, it ain't much and certainly A LOT less than carpet. I've had in my 2015 and wouldn't want anything else from now on unless there's a better invention in the future. I just turned 130 hours and never had a concern about mildew, stink or anything like it.

                Yes. Just added Seadek this year and that stuff dries super fast. It's only surface water as it can't get "in" the product.
                If you don't have round black vents down by your feet at the drivers seat or one under the seat behind driver you don't have a heater on your boat I'd guess. I think showers are located in the storage truck but I don't have that myself.

                  Funny, I bought my 211 almost the same time.
                  The only thing that wasn't already answered was the led upgrade worth it on the courtesy lights. - I think so, they are considerably brighter, wish the cost wasn't so much though.

                  My thoughts on SeaDek are still undecided. I have heard the carpet from Corinthian is much better than the old stuff. My concern on the SeaDek is, how well does it hold up? Do I have to be really careful with what I have on it like shoes and skis, etc. etc? I really like the idea of SeaDek but the pull out carpet was one of the biggest pluses for me buying the 211, it just ended up being junk

                    SeaDek is fantastic. Have had it for a few years now. Has held up very well - still looks like new.

                      The SeaDeck in mine has help up really well also...Deckadence in the cabin even better, if you do upgrade or change, you should look into that for cabin. Wont mildew, you can take out to wash like carpet, soft on the feet and because any water drains immediately to bottom, if you drop a towel or shirt, it wont get wet

                        Totally agree with you. I added seadek after last season. LOVE IT!

                            Get the seadek. Worth it. Love my 211 even more now that I replaced the carpet. I used sc wake.

                              Call me old school. Seadeck is more a style product than a function product If you ask me. I prefer the ease of snapout and a a quick power wash for cleaning. I have two neighbors with full seadeck , it holds dust and grime for sure . As mentioned above, I am also a huge fan of deckadence .


                              as far as the heater , you should be able to easily tell if it’s there you should hear the fan and you should see few black vents towards the floor.


                              If you wanted , you could definitely wire the led cup holders to one of those blanks. That wouldn't’ t be an issue at all.
