    Intermittent Speedometer reading

I have a 2010 Super Air Nautique 210 I just bought a few months ago from a buddy that never used it (only had 68 hours on it). Third or fourth time I took it out (after having a new seal put around the drive shaft because it was leaking) the speedo started acting up. First instance was when the boat was in neutral and the radio went to max volume. I looked at the gauge and it said we were going 50 mph even though not even moving.

Then the speedo wouldn't register anything 0.0 mph (digital or analog nothing on GPS either). Boat ran fine and RPM were good a couple hours later when I was ready to go in speedo worked fine and good to go. I thought maybe it was a fluke, next time I drop in speedo works then turn boat off and back to nothing again. It has repeated this that past 6 or so times i have taken it out.

I have noticed that when the speedo doesn't work the date and time registered is 8:00 Dec. 31. When speedo does work it shows correct date and time. Has anyone come across this before?
