2008 Fuel gauge not working-ground wire location for fuel sending unit?

I've searched and can't find what I'm looking for.

Symptom-Fuel gauge working intermittently

Actions-replaced sending unit and gauge

Can someone tell me where the ground is for the fuel sending unit? I unplugged and plugged the "P6" plug on the Faria gateway box (I found somewhere that this is the plug for the fuel gauge) and I got the gauge to work a little.
I'm thinking now the ground is bad or loose.

Does anybody know where the ground location is for an '08 Vdrive, 210, 220, 230, 236??

I can tell you that the ground bus is NOT in the battery switch/breaker box (in the trunk on the '08 model), there are some grounds in there, but they are for the circuits protected by the breakers.
Still looking for knowledge on where the ground bus bar for the dash/console equipment is located...

I found a ground bus on the wiring harness for the stereo under the "glove box" accessed under the observer's seat. I could not see all the labels on the wiring, but I think this is the ground location for the instruments.
I did find some ground screws loose, but after tightening them all, the fuel gauge is still erratic.
The fuel gauge is the only gauge not working properly, oil pressure, temp gauge, voltage, etc all work fine.
Is it possible there's another ground bus?

The fuel gauge on my 06 was doing the same...it ended up being the connection to the sending unit plug. Snugged it up and wrapped securely with electrical tape. Worked well with no problems for several years and still today I assume.

A followup for this thread, I replaced the "quick connect" to the sending unit with a Weatherpack connector, and that has resolved the issue.

My 2009 230 fuel gauge was erratic as well. Cleaning up the connections at the top of the tank resolved my issues.

Sounds to me like this is a connection that should be soldered in...

charlesml3 , that might work, but replacing a sending unit would be a pain, there's not a lot of extra wiring loom there so you would need to clip out the CC supplied connector and hope there's enough wire to connect for the solder joint. The Weatherpack connectors seem a lot better than the ones CC used on my boat, maybe they have been upgraded on the newer boats?

Yea, most likely they went to one of those bigger waterproof connectors. I know the sender on my old 99 Air was just an exposed, slip-on style. It never gave me trouble, but I remember seeing it several times.

I tell you just looking at an exposed fuel tank with all that boom makes me nervous...cover it up and I am fine. I cannot imagine soldering or heating connection on top.

Please. The melting point of solder is FAR below the flash point of gasoline. Let's try to keep this discussion reasonable.
