    Swamped... Fluid Flushing

My boat took on some water while docked last week during vacation, likely due to huge wakes from large passing boats. When I found it riding low in the slip... I realized the situation and got a tow to the launch.

Back home now and trying to get everything cleaned up. I've flushed the engine 4 times with low viscosity oil and a quart of marvel or diesel, running the boat at idle for 5 - 10 min before draining and repeating, and while things are looking better I still have milky oil. Has anyone else dealt with this before, and how many times did you have to flush the engine?

I also changed the v-drive oil, and will do that again after our next time on the water this week. Surprisingly the trans fluid seems to be clean.

Lesson learned, don't take your 21' wakeboard boat on Lake of the Ozarks during 4th of July vacation.

Okay, for anyone else dealing with this... It took 6 flushes to clean the crankcase out. I only used 3 filters, swapping filters every 2 flushes. Swapping filter each time may have reduced the number of times I had to flush the engine, but I only had 3 extras.

In summary... What a royal PITA!

You must have had a good slip locatuon. The covered slip I was in faced the oncoming wake from passing boats. In hindsight I should have backed my boat in to let the bow cut through the wake. I assume a few big rollers flowed over the transom and that was it. The bilge circuit breaker popped from running too long, did this twice while I was pumping the water out.

Did you hear about the guy who completely swamped his wakeboard boat that week? We heard about it from different people almost daily. I think it was near Osage Beach area where we were staying.
