New to this site but not new to Nautiques. However I have never done a propeller upgrade before and am looking for some guidence on not only which propeller to go with but also if it is going to damage the drive shaft, transmission, or motor in any way.
As stated in the title the boat in question to have the upgraded prop is my 2005 226 Team with the ZR6. I am in Florida so elevation is not relevant here. I mostly surf, but there will be some wakeboarding and tubing happening as well. The issue is when I am heavily weighted down the boat doesn't want to plane up or shape a surf wake. Heavily weighted would be full stock ballast (900# i think) and 10-11 people for wake boarding, or wake surfing I have had issues with 7 people and an additional 1200-1500#.
Wakemakers recommends the Acme 1578 for Heavily Weighted or the Acme 856 for Wakesurf/Wakeboard.
Anyone have experiance with either prop on the 226 specifically? Do I qualify as heavily weighted? Is there any reason not to get the 1578 over the 856? I have read a bunch of posts of people raving about the 1578 on 210's so I am very much leaning towards that option. Any help or opinions are welcomed! Thanks!
