Prop on g23 550

So I was having some trouble getting my g23 with 550 on plane with 3000 pounds extra ballast. So I started talking to Eric at o.j. he said he would try a 18x16. Anyone try this yet. Looking to get on plane faster. Especially the 13-16 mph area takes forever.

Do you have NRCS set to auto? Makes a night/day difference

Perhaps 3,000 lbs is too much weight? More is not always more.

I get that... but I know from experiance that I should be able to run this setup.

My friend who owns the same boat runs more on top of that.

Also I was pulling a pro rider last weekend for a couple days and he has the same boat and said it was not pulling as it should.

So I know the setup is not wrong just wondering if its the prop or engine.

I've done a fair amount of prop testing on my 2016 G23 with 550 at 5400' elevation. My performance is significantly better with the Acme 3081 (18"x17.5 .105 cup) over stock (see data below). I can't speak to what an 18"X16 would do but I've had my boat heavily loaded and haven't had any problem getting on plane. I would not want to lose the lower RPMs that I'm seeing with the 17.5 pitch by going with a 16 pitch. You'd have a serious tug boat with that configuration...but would be overkill for me.

What year is your boat? Does it have the 2:1 V-drive?

If the OP has the 1.43:1 V-drive in the 2013-2015 boat, he's going to have significantly different results.
