i was just thinking if the pistons where still tight in their respective bores, you might get away with just turning the crank and go on for a few more seasons.

did you check those links on skiboathelp?

tryan, yeah my plan now is to keep my boat forever{but you dont know what "deal" around the corner}. so i dont want to do this again in a couple of years, and knowing this could be the day. it already has 1 cylinder sleeved and needs 2 more. i think its the wrong crank anyway. im so confused.
yeah thanks for the help and the links i really liked the one @ http://www.ford-motors-engines.com/f...=FORD%20Marine
looked like something right up my alley.

i didn't think the price was to bad, but i would keep on looking. availability was an issue for me.

the best 351 blocks are 69-70. the webs on the block are thicker and machined. the heads from that same era also have compatible flow rates to the gt-40's without the expense of swapping out the vavle train. stay away from high volume oil pumps and windage trays are ebay all the time.

check this little head comparison program. it's cool.http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/630.shtml
use the drop downs to compare two heads. the 69 heads rank right up there with the gt-40p's.

if they have to build your motor, ask if you can get a c9 or a d0 casting.

in general. running at high rpm will suck the pan dry with a high volume pump.

you need to figure in the core when you compare price. (it's gonna cost you more to ship it than the core charge.) a core was not required when i bought mine and it was the ONLY reverse 351 i could find. they only one !

i found a rebuilder in canada that might have a deep sump. i have my fingers crossed. the one in the 72 is close to the hull. ie a dime will slide underneath, but a nickel won't. it's tight.
