    Gt40 1999

    have a problem with engine runs fine but when I stop engine won't re start unless disconnect plug to fuel pump turn it over it fires and stops I then reconnect plug engine starts and runs fine . Had an issue with engine hunting on idle but has now developed to this

    Is it carbureted of fuel injected

      Hi fuel injection
      also engine idles abut 900. Rpm strong smell of fuel but engine seems to run fine just got it running of hose in my shed
      any help with this would be great

        Sounds like it's getting too much fuel. I'd check the fuel pressure on the rail or just go ahead and install a new fuel pressure regulator they are cheap enough and see if that helps.

            Yeh think your right ordering new fuel regulater also think I'll replace vacuum pipe coming out the top of it just in case it's perished.Does anyone know if there is a cold start sensor on gt 40 EFi? Will check filter cheers.

              You may want to check fuel pump relays and connections I recommend dielectric grease on marine electrical connectors. I have replaced them along with fuel pumps on these engines with fuel cell. pretty common with the gt40.
