ZR6 Risers (elbows)

Hey guys,

I have an '07 220TE with the ZR6 motor in it. Just ordered all new manifolds and risers for it as the other ones were having issues.

There is only one Elbow listed in the 2007 PCM parts manual (R029016). I get it in today and it doesn't have the threaded hole in it for my temperature switch. I know the manual says these switches/sensors are optional but I have them. What do I do? I'm desperate to get the boat in. It's been in the water only twice this year and in the shop the rest! Summer is almost over!

Number 12 is the temperature "switch". The new PCM risers with R092016 stamped in them don't have a whole for the switch.

Same thing just happened to me!

Just replaced with new manifold , riser , gaskets...etc

what is your solution?

The new risers I got doesn't have the pre drilled hole for the temp sensor

Looking for the type of issues the OP was having to prompt the replacement of the manifolds and risers. I don't care about the hole for the sensor.

Sorry guys for taking so long to get back to you. My original issue was exhaust manifold gasket leak. Upon pulling the manifold I noticed a lot of corrosion inside the jackets. I have the ZR6 engine with fresh water cooling but it does get used in brackish water. Even though I've owned the boat for 3 years and flush it out for 5 min after pulling it out of the water, it would appear the PO didn't do such a good job at doing such. I replaced everything on both sides from the manifolds to the muffler.

The issue was I had the optional exhaust temperature sensors in my risers. The new replacement risers didn't have the holes for the sensors and my mechanic was confused as to why and didn't know how to proceed. Special thanks to some Nautique dealers out in Cali who were able to take a phone call from me on the east coast to try and remedy the situation but they didn't know the answer either.

I was finally able to get PCM to talk to me. They only wanted to talk to a dealer. Unfortunately where I live we don't have PCM dealers. The closest Nautique dealer is 3 hours away. Let's just say, center consoles rule the water here with a select few of us with dedicated wakeboard boats.

PCM finally would talk to me and said since it was only an option on this engine they were not needed and it wasn't cost effective for them to continue making the risers with the temperature sensor ports since only a few engines opted to use them.

Their suggestion was to pull the sensors, unplug them from the connection and fill the connector on the wiring harness with silicone, creating a dead head, securing it back to the wiring harness with electrical tape. They expressed that these exhaust temperature sensors were only a dummy warning light sensor and weren't needed for operation of the motor and or the computer.

I've been running it now since July this way with no issue.

I know running in brackishwater/salt water they suggest to at least inspect the manifolds and risers every 5 years. So now I know it's all new and I'll check back on them in about 5 years and see if I need new again. Flushing after every outing with fresh water and Salt-away should keep it from having any more issues. The PO replaced the engine before we bought it, had the warranty transfered into our name. He "said" the risers and manifolds were new as well but the inspection showed they were just repainted and and reinstalled. Course I guess I don't blame him for not spending the extra 3K for exhaust when he just replaced the engine and was selling it. Just would have been nice to know upfront. I also changes out the starter while I have the port manifold off since. Better safe than sorry. Surprisingly it already had an ARCO starter on it.
