    99 Sport fuel pump issues

I have a 99 Sport. After changing the filter and pump inside the fuel control cell the boat will run for about ten minutes then die like it ran out of fuel. After some priming and cranking it will fire right up and run great for another 10-15 minutes and then die again. Any thoughts? I'm 2.5 hours from the nearest dealer and our lake (30min away) is dropping fast this summer so testing is a real bitch.

Please get a fuel pressure gauge and connect it to the schrader valve on the FCC and watch the pressure when it dies. If it drops below 39 psi or so, it's probably not getting enough fuel from the tank through the low pressure fuel pump. Could be plugged vent, sticking anti-siphon valve but I'm betting your low pressure pump is dying.

I would agree. pump works cold and looses pressure. these pumps could be more reliable. I am on low pressure pump #3

The short 3" length of hose that attaches to the high pressure fuel pump inside the FCC can go bad over time and bleed off pressure to your fuel rails... its a known issue and super cheap replacement.

If you haven't already replaced it, I suggest you give it a try.

I have a 96 Sport Nautique and it has the same exact problems. I took it to a (3) service departments and have had no luck fixing it. I have spent the entire summer trying to take care of the issue myself. Here are the items that have been done so far (by service departments) or myself:
            1. High pressure pump replaced
            2. FCC filter replaced
            3. Low Pressure pump replace
            4. Low pressure to FCC line replaced
            5. Idle Control Air Valve replaced
            6. MAP replaced
            7. Fuel pump relay replaced

i have noticed that when it stalls, the smell of fuel is strong.

If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it too.

Have you tried the fuel pressure regulator. I re[laced mine is about 10 minutes shney metal can on top of the rear of engine with hose on one end bolted in with three alen screws. between ecu plate and intake manifold.(arround 30 bucks at nappa ) You can also clean the anti siphon valve on the tank. they stick and will not allow fuel to the low pressure pump. clean and or replace.

One other thought, If available try running from a 6 gal outboard tank with fresh fuel. I have found when the FCC runs low on fuel the fuel rail gets hot. this can cause a strong fuel odor.
