2000 pro air nautique GT 40, raw water pump

I had an impeller go out in my raw water pump, shredded it.. kept getting pieces in my strainer because I had installed the pump backwards..
My question is this what do I need to clean out to make sure no impeller pieces get caught up in the system?
I did back flush the bottom hose on the pump, with a garden hose, everything was coming out clean. Should I pull the transmission cooler off and look inside it also to be safe or should back flowing it be enough?
This is my first boat/ nautique..
    Thanks
    Shawn

It certainly wouldn't hurt to look through everything. Now that you have a new impeller and the pump installed properly, is the boat cooling properly? BTW, put a dot of white paint or something on the top side of the pump so the next time you'll know "the white dot goes on top."

The part are going to be here tomorrow,
I did some research on here and found out that the screw on the outside of the pump goes toward the engine, I had it away from the engine..I also ordered a inline flush kit so I can, run it at the house before taking it to the lake..
Here is a diagram of a picture I found on here also..

The trans cooler has kind of a screen on it, you definitely need to take the hose off there and check and see if there are parts hanging up there.

Glad you had a great day. There's no better feeling than figuring out a problem and fixing it and having that boat run like new again.
