'01 touch pad/electical problem -- will not turn over

I have an '01 Sport Nautique, GT-40 engine, with keyless ignition -- suddenly it will not start; there seems to be no power to the touch pad since neither the horn nor blower will turn on either. The bilge pump will operate from the master bilge switch, but nothing else. The only thing we've done differently lately is use the master power shut off (after having the battery dead after four weeks of non-use after which we jumped the boat off my truck; but we had it out once after that and everything was fine); we turned on the master power, and nothing. I've checked: 1) the breakers on the "black box," 2) the master fuse at the power shut off, 3) connections at the helm and 4) the three breakers on the back of the engine. We had this happen one other time after replacing the funky speedo & tach; then after walking away and coming back the next day, everything was fine and has been for a year and a half. ANY IDEAS?? My son needs to wakeboard (and dad needs to get out on the water!)!

    RE:

Check the small ground wire attachement to the battery, if there is one. The dash will act really funny/dead if the ground wire is not connected.

      touch pad / electrical problem

checked that...cut away all the tape...it is solidly molded into the terminal itself, just like the main cable. Do you suggest I cut it off and reattach? Is there a simple way to test it?

        SOLVED!

OK, I'm an idiot. There are TWO (2) master kill/power switches located next to each other mounted on the helm at the drivers feet -- the one I missed was on the "bilge pump only" switch. As the manual states on pg 1.7 "It is important to remember that the engine or other accessories can not be used unless the switch is in the "on" position." OK -- maybe God had a reason to keep us off the lake this evening! Then again, maybe I'm just an idiot.

No worries. That's just one more thing that will never happen to you again. 8-) BKH
