    stalls when hot

We have an 1984 ski Nautique (engine is a Ford commander 351). Okay here is what is happening... The engine will start fine, but then while idling it will stall a little. When we get it to fast water it will run with really no problem. We can get a wake border up and sometimes two, but then it will start giving us some real problems. It will stall as soon as you put it into gear. Once you get into gear, it is slow to come to plain, but then it seems to be okay until we stop. It seems the longer the engine runs the harder it is to get going again.

We have already replaced the impeller, rebuilt the carb, and some of the transmission thinking one of these thing were the problem, but nothing has really helped.
    Any suggestions???

Vapor locking. When the fuel isn't flowing very quickly through the line it is getting hot next to the engine. Get some fuel injection hose and slit it open and slide it over your metal fuel line.

      That should insulate it enough.

Carry some blocks of wood with you so when you are going to idle for an extended period of time you can crack the hood and let cool air circulate. Also make sure your blower is on.

Ballast resistor...test by connecting wires from both sides to one side. Classic symptom of failing ballast resistor: Hard or non-start when hot. Seems you are getting a weak spark.

Check your intake manifold torque all the bolts should be at 25 lb ft of torque.
