    95 Super Sport Fuel Problem

boat was having a hard time starting last night. I can hear the high pressure pump whine when the key turns on but i could not hear nor feel the low. I pulled the hose off the inlet to the low pressure and it was dry as it gets. i tested with multi meter and got 12V+ on high pressure but next to nothing on low, just millivolts. Was looking into replacing the low pressure fuel with a carter but didn't know the correct voltage on pump as it come in all kinds of sizes. 2 questions does anyone know what carter fuel pump will work on a GT-40? And when and what voltage should i have a low pressure fuel pump. Also i just replace fuel filter before starting last night.

Low pressure pumps don't seem to last very long, mine was replaced before 300 hrs. One of the two relays on the engine plate next to the ECM powers both pumps, the other relay powers the ECM. You could try switching them and see it you then have voltage at the pump. The voltage occurs just as you tun on the key and stops when the ECM detects that the engine is not running. They are cheap enough they are Hella 007 794 301- I keep some in my boat just in case. Google Carter P4389 you can find them for under 60.00 ebay has them too for under 60

That's what i did. The Carter P4389 was an exact fit. I did not even use the mounting bracket it came with. I put new bushing (supplied) in and it mounted right up, even the wiring terminals fit on the pump. Primed the pump(s), turned the key and the boat fired right up.
