    Speedometer problem

The speedometer in our new SkiNautique (2006) sometimes shows twice the speed (at 36 mph the needle points out of the scale), and then goes back to normal again. We rely on the PerfectPass, so it doesn't affect the skiing, but it is still irritating. The manual does not say much about how the speedometer works. The calibration knob has no effect, when in this state of showing dubble speed. The boat has no pitot-tubes on the stern, so I guess it has some kind of electronic sensor. Any suggestions?

It runs off the paddlewheel the PP uses I would suspect a loose connection behind the dash. Should be a warranty repair.
