    2001 SAN 210 - Prop Advice

Hit a log last weekend. Bent a shaft and prop. Got everything apart this weekend. Current plant is to replace the shaft with A.R.E and install PSS shaft seal. Thrust bearings look fine. Engine alignment needs to be checked, but doesn't appear to be too far off.

Here's where I overthunk... I'm running 2500lbs of ballast when surfing. I had/have a 14x16 OJ prop (think stock is 14x18). I'm at sea level, btw. The prop was great for wakeboarding and okay for surfing. By okay, I mean fine at surf speed, but with full ballast and 4/5 people in the boat, I could not get on plane. Would have to drain at least a third to get to a manageable load. Felt like I was killing my drivetrain. I'm not sure if that's typical from experience of others.

Anyway, I sent my prop back to get repaired and OJ is telling me it is "bent to the hub" and cannot be repaired. they offered $100 towards purchase of a replacement, but don't have any other sizes for my boat. Looking at $372 (with discount) for a new 14x16 from them.

Option 1: get replacement prop same size at discount
Option 2: take the loss from OJ and go try new acme 1578
Option 3: try to get damaged prop back and get another opinion from another shop?
    Option 4: TBD???

Any advice or things to consider from others with experience would help me make a decision.

I think you may want to look at an Acme 14x13.75 or 14x14.25.

man.. i'm confused. I remember looking at acme like two years ago and the closest they offered for a right hand was that 1578 13.5 x 14.25. I like the 1846 14 x 14.25 like you suggested.

I wonder why Wakemaker's prop finder doesn't suggest the 14" (maybe a newer model)?? Is there something I'm not considering?

Clearance from the hull is the biggest thing, but I don't know what the prop clearance is on the OG 210. I know on my 08, a 14.5" is the absolute max diameter. If you were good running a 14" prop I wouldn't go back to the 13.5".

the factory prop was a 14" so i assume so. I read where they recommend 15% of the prop diameter as the clearance. That puts me at just over 2" of clearance. I'll double check to make sure and maybe then order that 1846.

I'd go as big as you can while maintaining 3/4" clearance.

Delta propeller is a site sponsor. I'd call hem to see if they offer a site discount. If not PM because I have a code I've used before when I got my prop last year. They had the best price.

I think you'll notice a big difference with a new ACME, that's the route I'd recommend.
