Covering/uncovering my Nautique -- the literal easy button...

I just got a new touchless cover installed. I keep asking myself why I waited so long and let the gel coat oxidize a little before getting it and had to take that cover off/on every time we wanted to take the boat out for a quick cruise…

It was custom measured for my dock and comes w/ a set of remotes that you can go down, hit the button, and it raises and lowers…and the tower fits nicely into a boot above the cover so I don’t have to lower it.

Attached are a few pictures of the new cover. Really tucks the boat in nicely at the end of the day.

I’m a big fan – wanted to share w/ the group….definitely very very happy w/ it

Yes those covers are the bomb. I have 2 friends who have them on their boats and I'm thinking of getting one. That Nautique cover is a pain to take on and off especially if you have short arms like I do.

Those look awesome. I've always wondered if you get bugs coming up from underneath it?

You do. Absolutely. I love how convenient these covers are but the downside is the spiders and other bugs. These covers cannot keep them out.

I have seen a few Touchless Covers on our lake and always wondered how well they work. Just curious, if you don't mind me asking, what does a Touchless Cover like that cost?

I really like these, but I have a neighbor that would probably complain that I am obscuring his view of the lake... Sweet cover... And I don't think any cover really keeps all bugs out anyhow.

Really like it so far. super easy to go for a quick cruise and come back.

The bugs haven't been bad so far, but I'll let folks know. I actually use to get spiders who liked to make webs in my tower with the old factory cover because of my overly light dock lights around the roof...

My view is pretty straight on, where I was looking at the bow of the boat before...and really didn't hurt it much. I always had the boat up anyways blocking that section.

Probably hard to see in this camera but sharing is caring

Spider and cost would be my issue.

I had a over the tower cover made that is long enough to cover the sides. I just pull it on from the front and step off the platform and its on. If its not on the lift the over the tower keeps the rain from ponding and the long sides keeps the sun off.

If you have a standard cover have sides sewn onto the sides. Its well worth it.

I use these skirts from BoatCoversDirect. They're not sewn in so I don't have to modify the factory cover.

Asked some of my neighbors who have them -- they said that they didn't really have spider issues. One week in, no issues with them either. I suspect spiders like making webs were a lot of misquotes and other flying bugs are and they seem to stay out of the cover . Around the outside of my dock near the string of lights I have around the roof is another story...

It was a present for me from wifey -- so I'll have to ask the price. I think it was about what GMLIII said above...

                          Later,
                          Ben

wow -- have to say, the cover took the beating from Hurricane Irma very very well. Considering I had an oak tree and pine tree fall in my property, the fact the cover had no damage is quite impressive.

What I did to prep it was I ended up strapping the boat cradle evenly between the pilings so it wouldn't sway back and forth. Then I strapped the lower frame (there is a bar going around the bottom of the cover) to the dock very well in multiple places so it couldn't sway.

All good after the storm and boat was out of the elements!
