    Fuel pumps bad?

Mechanic says he had to replace both fuel pumps. Then says boat still didn't run? So he replaces fuel pump relay and it pressurized. But after turning on ignition and the system pressurizing, when you hit start again the fuel pressure dropped. So puts an ECM in that is running to rich and boat starts right up. ECM bad... I have an opinion about that hole sequence of events. What's the online opinion? Odds of both fuel pumps going bad? Odds that both fuel pumps were fine and relay was bad? Odd it was all fine and needs ECM?
I was using the boat it just wouldn't idle or hold a constant speed. Cruise would ossilate 5mph. I changed plugs and filters and gas and couldn't cure the issue. Gave up and took to shop so they could read computer codes. I don't think they tried, just started replacing parts

yeah, kind of tough when this happens. you are right it was probably only one thing actually was the problem. tough situation. what you gonna do, tell him to put all the old parts back in...you could. but depending on the hours maybe it is a good idea to replace the pumps anyways.

Odds of both pumps being bad is really low. I would keep new parts and seek refund for Labor specific to the fuel pump r/r.
