You seemed pretty happy with the response from NautiqueParts at the time. I don't see any mention of hydrolock in your posts from then. Also, to be clear, after this bad batch of impellers in 2014, NautiqueParts no longer sells anything except OEM impellers.
I wonder if Nautique Parts would exchange my two white box Chinese impellers they sent for replacement with OEM PCM parts? Now that might make me happy and I would quit rehashing my experience every time this comes up.
So Jeff work your magic with NP and let me know what you can do.
Paxdad, please allow me to explain a few things with the circumstance of bad impellers. There was a time in the 2013 and 2014 that PCM was having trouble having impellers in stock to supply to dealers. They would go sometimes longer than a month without being able to supply impellers to their dealers and thus keeping people off the water. In an effort to better help our customers we sourced a matching impeller that would work in the engines as well. It was made by Mallory and purchased from a US based distributor. We did find out that Mallory had these made in china. We did, in fact, have a bad batch come in that we were able to quickly identify and pull from our shelves before anymore were sent out. We made a post on here and sent out email blasts to our customers notifying them of what we found. We replaced any impeller purchased from NP.com in the first half of the year of 2014 no questions asked whether it ended up being genuine PCM or not. Here is where another problem came into play. That year PCM also started packaging their OEM impellers in little white boxes. This left our customers with the impression that the replacements we sent out were still the chinese replacements when in fact they were not. I went to PCM and explained to them what was going on and they started packing their impellers in PCM labeled shrink packaging again because of that. To this day because of the ''knock off'' problem we discovered they are still packaged in PCM branded packaging. I know it's been 3 years but if you received one from us as a replacement for the knock off and it was in a white box I will be glad to replace it again at no charge to prevent any confusion of whether it is OEM or not. Please email me at support@nautiqueparts.com with a shipping address and I will be glad to send them out immediately. I apologize for the bad taste I left in your mouth as none of the post-incident frustration was relayed to me in our conversations via email after the replacement. We spoke a few different times about your friends Tige and his impeller that I replaced and you seemed very pleased with the service we were providing to remedy the issue. I pride my company in customer service. I would much rather lose money to have a customer oriented reputation than ever have someone so unhappy that they choose not to do business with me anymore. We are the oldest Nautique dealership in the world and did not get here by selling Chinese knock off's. This is not a norm for us but was merely an effort to go the extra mile to source another replacement to keep our customers on the water. Did it backfire in my face? **** yes...... was i willing to admit this and stand behind my company and give away replacements to try and make up for this? Absolutely. Please let me know if there is anyway I can ever help you and I will do anything I can to make sure that your experience in a Nautique Boat is nothing less than outstanding.

DW SD could not agree more. In my case the water was in fact sucked in from the exiting exhaust which is symptomatic of a hydrolock. It is also called a "dieseling effect".
I had just left the ramp and was idling, when I saw the temp gauge start to rise and immediately hit stop. It never overheated and I then made two attempts to start it after opening the engine hatch to inspect. I recognized the strain on the starter and immediately started pulling the spark plugs only to find water in two cylinders.
I don't understand how water can get sucked in from the exhaust manifolds. The exhaust valves should be closed when the piston travels down and creates vacuum. The exhaust valves should only open on the exhaust compression stroke. Was there an exhaust riser gasket failure that allowed water to pour down into a cylinder through an opened exhaust valve? Is that the reason there was only water in 2 cylinders.
I'm really impressed that you immediately recognized what was occurring. I definitely would not suspect a hydrolock.

Townsend,
Thanks for the generous offer and the quick reply. I have emailed you as requested. There is no doubt in my mind that NP is the absolute best source for my Nautique Parts and that is why I have continued to make my purchases through NP even after the dilemma I went through.
Thanks.
Paxdad.
