3M Gelcoat Finishing System - Advice?

    Hi all,
Got the garage cleaned out today, and the boat in. YES! Figured I might be able to do my spring project this fall if time allows. That is, time to work on the gelcoat. I'd say it is in pretty good shape overall, not oxidized much, but it doesn't shine brilliantly, and it does have a water line from the previous owner. I'm looking at the 3M Gelcoat Finishing system and wondering if others have used it, or have another recommended product. I figure I"m at either medium or light (how to choose?) and then a bottle of wax for future use.

Secondary question - what do you do around the graphics? Just get in there as best you can with your hand?

I'm just looking to polish and wax what I have already. I don't have any gelcoat damage. Does your comment still apply? Seems like they are all about repair.

3m stuff is good stuff. I’ve used their imperial compound and finishing material and the finesse it glaze. Both great. You can’t go wrong with any of their products. I’ve heard great things about the wax they make too but I’ve always loved the flagship wax

I have heard great things about 3M...I use Boat Candy, doubt they are much different. Make sure you have variable speed rotary, the right pads for the job (think its yellow for cutting and white for polishing)...last fall when I did it last so I dont remember. Watch some utube video's....if you don't work it long enough on the right speed, you wont get the results you want.
