Installing a heater on G23 2017

How did you retrofit a seat heater? Is a kit or something?

I haven't looked in detail as I have no need...but seat heaters in cars are just a pad under the upholstery. I'd think retrofitting on a boat would be the same as in a car. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-628-04.../dp/B002U6IL9O

(That might not be the best kit...I have no idea, but it's the right idea.)

It looks easy to me. I'd be comfortable doing the upholstery work myself, but if you're not you could always pay a shop to remove/replace the skin. You're dealer might be willing to enable the seat heater button on LINC. You can then use a relay to turn it on. Or just install a separate switch. FWIW, on my 2015, the passenger side seat heater is turned on/off by a separate switch and the driver side is operated via LINC.

I love the seat heaters on my boat--they're always on in cold weather but we hardly bother with the regular heater.

Seat heater is pretty tempting. I wonder if it is right under the skin or if there is some kind of membrane in between the back of the vinyl and the unit pictured. Would be pretty easy to do...

Wifey had an old (2001) mercedes that a little piece of the seat heater along the edge shorted out and it actually burned thru the leather...so it is not without risk of ruining your vinyl.

Bringing this back up to the top. I’m installing a heater this spring in a 2016 G21 with the H5.

1st question: When installing a 300 series heater like the photo on page 1, you screw it to the hull? Is there two pieces of fiberglass in that spot or how do you know you’re not going to screw through to the exterior?

2nd question: Any pointers on how and where to install the relay for the circ pump?

3rd question: If you don’t have a circ pump, does the heater coolant just flow via convection? Why does the circulation pump make such a big difference?

4th question: What do you recommend using for cutting holes out? I was thinking either carbide tipped hole saw bit or just using a dremel and going very slowly.

How did you go about installing the recirculation pump? I'm about to do the heatercraft 200 with pump on a 21 G23 ZZ6. Pretty much same engine as the H5.
Any other wisdome to share?
Going to try and do similar to factory. But no defrost. Just the two lower.
