Looking for good place to buy a complete engine

    Hello,

I have a 1980 SN and have an engine that is pretty rough (not in boat). The heads have lots of rust on and in them and missing a few parts I am sure. I am looking at possibly buying a complete engine so I can get on the water sooner or just purchase rebuilt heads.

Does anyone know of a good place or does anyone have a used complete engine for sale.

    Ford or chevy.

    Thanks!

There is always www.skidim.com and I think Jasper sells marinized engines also.

    Good luck

In spite of the other post on this thread, I have had good luck with skidim. I would not advise changing engine manufactures. I believe there would be problems getting motor mounts in the right place. Never mind a gm engine will not bolt to a Ford patterned tranny.

Unless it was a Chevy to begin with. There were a few Chevy's put in for special orders.

I have a set of working heads for a ford 351W. They have 487hours of use and came off of my 83 SN 2001. I upgraded to GT40's and would like to sell my old ones. $100 plus shipping. Let me know.

Well I have taken a good look at the engine and I think I will have to tear it all the way down. I have located more rust. The cam has rust on it and there is some in the cylinders. It is also missing the rods. I wouldn't mind finding a good used complete engine. I don't want to take the time right now to work on this engine. Just want to get this baby on the water before winter!

I thought that the borg warner tranny would bolt to either chevy or ford? Also is there a way to put a standard rotation engine in these? What would you have to change? The guy I bought it from said that I just needed to rotate the coupler coming off the shaft??

            Thanks everyone!

any particular reason you want to do that? almost all nautiques to this day were/are reverse.
                        I don\'t care.

Well not sure if I have to stick with a reverse rotation engine or not.
