I bring it up in every thread that kook-aid drinking people like you post...just so people that read get some balance. You disagree with the balance I guess.

      Scott,

This forum is for Nautique owners. You seem to think we're nothing but "kool-aid drinking people" who need you to come along and give us "some balance." What you're doing here isn't working. All you're doing is antagonizing people here. Nobody is going to listen to your "balance" when you're presenting it this way.

All boats have problems. There's no getting around that. We congregate here to discuss these problems and find effective ways to resolve them and share that knowledge. There are similar forums for most boat makes/models. For the most part, this forum stays away from trash-talking other manufacturers. It isn't effective and it doesn't lead to anything particularly helpful.

Yah, and your giving people dubious repair advice...So I guess neither of us is perfect.

I will let Jeff moderate. But thanks for your opinion, I will give it strong consideration.

Not saying it's an epidemic, but this has been brought up before on at least 1 CE boat.

On another note, there seems to be a handful of people flying off the handle lately about "quality control" issues or Nautique service issues... Now I'm not sure if all the issues talked about are worthy of legitimate complaints, but some are (prop shafts for instance). In 2005 while servicing my 2003 SANTE I noticed vertical cracks forming in the gelcoat on the stringers just in front of the v-drive mounts. I watched them through the rest of the season and they didn't seem to change. Long story short, after talking with my dealer and Nautique my boat was sent back the the factory where the running gear was removed, all carpet was pulled up to inspect for further possible damage... Needless to say nothing else was found and the cracks deemed cosmetic. It was repaired, as well as a dripless packing installed (my request), and a new v-drive (also my request) for poor dealer inspection on first delivery... All of this was done at no cost to me under warranty and the person in charge of keeping track of my boat at the factory was very good with responses, help, and answering any requests I had.

I say all this to depict that stuff happens... These boats are expensive yes, but that expense doesn't make them immune to issues! Deal with any issues when they arise in a calm professional manner and I guarantee they will be fixed via warranty if one exists. I still own that same boat and will continue to own it for as long as possible...

I do believe the G shaft issue should be better handled since it seems to be an on-going problem. This engine mount issue while it could be caused by some coating is also a maintenance issue on someone's part and is not nearly as wide spread as the prop shafts for instance.

I am wishing I could find the thread about the Malibu that had the drive shaft snap. I wonder if it got deleted. It seems more rare in other brands, but it happens to them too.

How much is the labor to change the prop shaft? I know it may be the principle, but still, we are not talking huge dollar amounts here.

The guy that had it done in my boat before I got it paid about $600 for labor, tax, etc...Of course if you can afford the boat you should be able to afford to fix it. But like you said, it really is the principal of the matter.

$600 is more than I would expect. I wasn't thinking about the lost prop, which on these boats is MSRP about $900. I would think a solid mechanic can change a broken prop shaft in 2 hours, but I've never done it, so I am just guessing. So never mind about it being a cheap repair.

Well the previous owner of your boat got hosed IMO. If that is driving some of your frustration and passion about this you should know that sounds like a dealer taking advantage of a situation.

My experience.... bought a used 2013 G out of state that unbeknownst to me had one of the shafts recommended for replacement. When the boat got to me I took it to my local dealer for a once over. He identified that it need a replacement shaft and did so, PLUS he did the following:

                  - replaced the starboard ram because it was intermittently throwing an error code
                  - added underwater lights supplied by me
                  - did a 25 hour service for warranty purposes that there were no records of
                  - updated my LINC software
                  - fixed a screw in a trailer tire
                  - winterized the boat
                  - changed impeller
                  - lake tested
                  - replaced a bad zipper on the cover
                  - buffed and waxed above the rubrail to remove cover chafing.

Guess how much - $600 in labor for all that. The line item for the shaft replacement said no charge. I was pretty happy and the shaft is still going strong. I knew when I bought a used boat I was on the hook for labor. Thats the way the warranty works on my year model. I see your point about possibly a more organized recall but count me as a happy customer as to how Nautique and my local dealer handled.

No doubt, your dealer is a keeper. That's the way it should be.
