Need yalls help here.....we just bought a used '03 yesterday. Today was our first outing and I noticed after an hour or so that the v-drive light stayed on regardless of speed. Now it is possible that it had been on the whole time since it was sunny out and it is kinda hard to see. When we picked up the boat, they topped off all the fluids.
From other posts it seems like:
A) The oil sensor is bad
or
B) The light hadn't been on the whole time and I have a leak somewhere.
The whole time the v-drive seemed silky smooth and never grinded. I will check tomorrow to see if I see any residue around the v-drive unit indicating a leak.
If it is indeed the sensor is there any way to test it to make sure it is faulty, or is it enough of an assumption that, if the unit is full and the light stays on then it is bad? I would prefer to be able to measure resistance or something with a DMM to figure out if it is faulty.
If it is bad, anyone know how much the sensors are (ballpark)?
Thanks for all the help!
