    Another Ignition problem

On my 98 Air Nautique with GT40 fuel injected engine. Lately when launching I've been having problems getting the thing to start. So far, it has eventually cranked but sometimes taking 10-15 minutes or so. Once it starts up the first time, it generally doesn't have any problems during a typical day on the lake. I'm guessing battery or related power issue or maybe the starter is on its way out? I'm just afraid it'll keep getting worse and I'll be stranded one of these days, want to get it taken care of ASAP. Any advice appreciated I'm still learning about my boat.

Sounds like corrosion on the ground wire either at the battery or engine. Also check all ground connections at the dash and the + connections between the battery and starter. It could be the starter also the first time you try to start it and it doesn't start, hit the starter with a hammer or screwdriver handle. If it works immediately after it may be an open wire in the starter. Good luck
