    Battery Cover

For those of you that do not have your battery(ies) in a plastic box, what are you using to keep the top terminals covered? Or are you even worrying about it? I will be using a couple blue top optimas to conserve available space, but don't like the idea of the terminals being exposed to whatever is thrown in the compartment.

try fitting just the lid on if you can't fit the whole box...even if you gotta dremel it out a bit.

I have 3 batteries under observers seat...all are in the plastic containers but I don't keep the covers on it but am careful what goes in there. Maybe I should rethink that and keep the covers on...never really thought about it since no metal goes into that space. The plastic boxes barely take up more space than just battery and you can buy at Walmart for like $11.

I spray the contacts with a corrosion inhibitor. It dries like an amber wax.

I will find the product on amazon if you like.
It works other for exposed hardware.

How about water soaked lift jackets or towels or the chemicals emitted from batteries. I have had them eat holes in my shirts so exposure does not seem like a good idea in a storage area. Also remember that batteries off gas so don't home remedy an un-vented cover.

This stuff is great. Dries as a flexible amber wax. Kind of like Cosmoline used to protect german cars' drivetrain parts from corrosion. I recently started using it on battery terminals instead of that sticky red cr@p. I also use it on trailer hardware.
