Bright White Vinyl Seat Bleed Through??

Has anyone encounted problems with color bleed through in recent years? My 2017 GS 20 has bright white seats and the 2 rear corner cushions are getting a faint pinkish orange discoloration in a portion of the seat. It’s not on the entire surface of the cushion and I haven’t noticed it on any other seats.

I have heard of colors bleeding through vinyl, but I haven’t heard that it was an issue with late model Nautiques. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have heard of this. As I understand it, it's the glue behind bleeding through but I don't have any confirmation on that.

As scooter said, pics would be great.

Few years ago that pinkish color was happening to some boats and there was talk of either glue bleeding thru, or a micro organism, I had it on one of mine as well. Don't know if an actual determination was reached on actual cause. I would think that would be covered under warranty, I would document and get to dealer sooner rather than later tho

Yep, had the pink stuff on one seat of my '16 G23. Vinyl was replaced under warranty. It is a microorganism.

Thanks for the feedback I did take some pics, but the discoloration doesn't show up well because it's so faint. If the vinyl wasn't so bright white it probably would even be noticeable.

A little back story, my boat has been at the dealer for several weeks having some service and warranty repairs done. It sat outside with the cover on the whole time. Would moisture and poor air circulation cause the microorganism to grow? Seems plausible.

Btw, I hate having to take my boat to the dealer. It always takes longer than I think it should so the boat sits outside for a long time (which never happens at my house) and they always seem to damage something. Scratches on the trailer from people standing on painted surfaces with rocks and sand on the bottom of shoes is the usual. Chipped paint on the trailer, gelcoat chips, faded speaker socks, Bimini cover full of water because it was put on upside down, and the list goes on. I wish all dealers would give premium treatment to this premium boat brand. Sorry for the rant, but I find it really upsetting.

I'm with you on taking my vehicles or boat to the dealer, seems like something always happens. As far as the vinyl it's probably is the mildew or mold starting to grow, like you said from poor air circulation. Have you tried letting the sun work on it? I take pictures first that show it for warranty sake and then I would talk with the dealer ask thier thoughts on claim. Try and clean it with your normal stuff than let it dry in the sun if it's already back home. If it's still at the dealer get it handled now and bring up your concern.

I had a slight pinkish tone on one of my seats after being in the rain undercover for a while.

Cleaned it as good as I could with cleaner, left it in the summer sun for awhile and brought it inside.

Did the sun make the pink disappear?

Haven't had time to let sun work on it. I thought about that. The boat is in the garage at my lake house now.

Yes. Warm summer days completely dried it out

On mine....I noticed that the "pinkish" areas were always the darkest after the cover was pulled off when it was sunny and warm and it was worst where the cover actually touched the sundeck. After a few hours of sun, it would fade. Cleaners did nothing for it tho. Once I moved the boat into covered storage and no longer covered it, it never got very dark, just barely noticable if you knew where to look.
