Wow, this is on my list. Maybe not next year, but definitely on the list. Knowing it's on the horizon will calm me down about my kids getting stuff on the existing carpet, too. Ha!

Have you read the other posts on what this takes. It is alot more than the cost of the material.

The carpet hides alot of imperfections in the underlying floor. Uneveness, gaps etc. It's a big job to get the surface prepped and ready to add the Pads.

Did you ever get a quote for the gator step? I would be interested to see what the price difference is between Seadek and Gator.

I've read all about this, and it looks like a major project to be sure. But I just sold (last summer) my '89 where I was staring down the barrel of a cap-off stringer rebuild. So by comparison, this is small, even though it's by no means easy or simple.

I will take on this project when I have the budget and the space to do it at home, i.e. I can chip away at it over the winter in my own heated garage. That's a few years out... But seeing the end result has me fully convinced this is worth doing with SeaDek or similar, versus carpet.

Also curious about the cost vs seadek... Haven't had great experiences with seadeck, considering half the boat stock has seadek it would be harder to go with gator... But if the price was right I'd bail in a second
