My rant if anyone is bored......
Very let down by a NC nautique dealer, i understand i bought used so perhaps it’s my fault. But a great deal of trust had been put in them, the owner assured me they took great pride in going through their used boats THOROUGHLY because they do not like come backs, they also knew i was driving 3.5 hours to pick it up. and i did get a test drive but i apparently missed a lot. if i were closer or not a mechanic (on cars not boats) the boat would have no doubt went straight back. i feel for “supposedly” 1092 hours on the boat (i’ll explain that later) and almost 30k, they got from me was plenty for the boat.
problems:
no trailer brakes, rotors cold as ice every stop for 220 miles, what i have found is that all pads are almost metal to metal, hoping just pads solve the problems after i replace them. (tandem axles, all 4 worn out completely) although the brake fluid looks like mud also so i will flush it all also. it appears to be the original boat mate trailer, built in 2005. no safety chain to boat from trailer, winch only.
the boat:
forward bilge pump inop, unless you hit it and hold it upside down lol, i have replaced it.
hour meter, stuck @ 1092 hours, the tach and every other function works though. i have replaced the gauge (expensive) but have not started the boat since, i do not hold much faith in that it will show correct hours when started..... we will see.
speedometer gauge completely inop.(it works once in a blue moon) it looks like a new paddle wheel and wiring was installed. i do not care about the speedometer since it has nice working perfect pass BUT would love for the depth gauge part of the gauge to work. may buy that gauge sometime, but again their expensive.
volt gauge works at times, but majority it does not, i have been using volt meter on tach when i want to see it.
oil pressure gauge has only worked 1-2 times, again i can check that on tach also, but......
lastly there are no cover poles, but i do have to say it appeared the mechanic who did the boat check over listed that they were missing at least.
I must add the boat is in great shape, interior is perfect and no abnormal amount of gouges/scratches/cracks in gel coat. the engine runs great, they did do a tune up, i have pulled the new plugs and sprayed fogger in the cylinders and pulled the impeller for winter. it appears they also did trans and vdrive seals as they stated had been done.
we have completely fallen in love with nautique and are glad we chose one, as we were looking @ anything wakeboard/wake surf purpose built. we will undoubtably buy another nautique someday.
i have contacted the salesman, only to get a “i will see what we can do” and note all i asked for were gauges and poles for the cover. i told them i would take care of bilge, other gauges and the trailer. i spoke with him 2 times at least and now calls are not returned. i understand i should go over his head since now the chain of command is apparently broken..... but have yet to do so.
we probably put 15+ hours on it since we bought it the end of september. we usually put around 70 hours on our old boat per year. so it’ll get a good work out next summer!!
