no attitude just an observation that you where feed a line BS and believed it.

You cannot adjust timing on a distributorless system like the protec system. And with any mis it's either fuel delivery or igniton related. Beside a 1 degree change in timing even if it was a dist that you can adjust would not make a difference.

As I stated it was an electical issue on one of the injectors that was causing the missing. Did you read the entire post? And there is certainly a chance that I misinterpreted something from the tech in the wrap up regarding the timing as I got a ton of info about what was happening in a short amount of time.

No need to spend any more time posting about a service visit that quite frankly you don't know enough about to make your statments. Move on.

Before you say stuff like that you should really either do some research and/or know what your talking about. The base timing on the protech system is most definatly adjustable.

Yep, Bobchris is way wrong here. ALL ProTec systems have adjustable base timing and MUST be set correctly for the engine to run properly. The Protec is NOT a distributor less system. The disributor is simply an interupter or triggering device just like pointless electronic ignition systems. However, the Protec ECM has the ability to adjust the timing electronically to compensate for detonation (retard)or to advance the timing during steady state throttle cruising.

With that said, I suppose I am a bit surprised that 1 degree of mis-adjustment would cause the problems originally mentioned in this thread.

it was a loose wire, not the timing
            2) Luckilly this problem reproduced while the tech was running it. Could have been a nightmare to find. A loose wire was causing one of the injectors to quit randomly. [/quote]

Scott - you ever get to the bottom of your problem? Any updates?

Just try to ignore the bobchris, he is always confrontational and rarely helpful, kind of uses this board as his beating ground, thinks he knows it all too.

I have heard the TBI motors run strong when well tuned. Not everybody understands how to make them work. I was told to avoid the system when I bought my 1995. Ran into a 1994 on the river that was identical to my 95 but it had the TBI system poorly tuned and ran poorly. Maybe some are good some are bad, but my opinion is that most engines have the potential to run well if everything is as it should be.

Except for this one incident my 94 with the tbi has run very very stong. The previous owner is a friend and spent some time with it and really knew engines. He had it tuned so well that you hardly knew it was running it was so quiet at idle. Of course once it got rev'ed up you knew it was there. It is pretty close to being back in that condition now after having it worked on. It is strong enough that I run healthy weight and 6-7 ppl and it still gets out of the hole well with an ACME 422. If I put the ACME 654 on there it pulls out of the hole at 1/3 throttle.
