2013 pcm zr-450 Serpentine belt help please!

My serpentine belt gave away. I just replaced it and I felt I was very thorough with making sure new belt was installed. When I fired the boat up next belt frayed right away. on the very top of the engine the "idler" ( small wheel where belt has no groves on it) which is right next to the alternator there is a very small wheel and a gap. I was curious if anyone could help me out with maybe something broke because the wheel seems way too narrow to support the belt. I was using the belt R066033A

That idler pulley is trashed. What you're looking at is the metal hub that's left. I'm surprised you didn't find a bunch of plastic bits in the bilge. You'll need a new idler pulley and a new belt to fix this.

Just so you can see for reference....this is my 2014 ZR409 and I bought a belt this Fall so I could change it out when I do my impeller. Same part number on my belt that you listed (got mine from Bakesonline).

My idler pully looks a bit different than yours but its totally smooth, does look like you will need to change yours out, guessing when your belt went out, it messed it up.

What age and how many hours can you expect from the belt?

I have not had one go out on me, but replace belt every couple years or 250hrs as preventative maintenance. I don't know what spec is on how long they are supposed to last, figure for what they cost its worth not having it break on me and leaving me stranded tho.

fatchance720 you should check with Bakesonline to see what they spec for you engine. The pic that Scottb7 posted above looks exactly like mine...but on your pic it looks smaller tho it could be deceiving. He is right tho and some of the parts are interchangable for sure, bottom right of paper even looks like it says ZR409/ZR450. May be smart to verify tho since design also looks different. Guess it could be wear but don't see how a metal part can wear that badly unless yours is not metal like mine. Hard to tell if the parts in Scottb7 pics are metal, looks like plastic outer ring and metal bearing. He could answer that for sure

wow, you are perceptive. i did not notice that. yeah it is zr409/zr450. my buddy has the 450 and i have the 409. same engine except the bore or stroke is different i can't remember which. all plastic except a standard bearing pressed in.

i guess the plastic completely cracked and just the bearing is left on...easy fix. buy it and be happy.

I have 600 hours on my current belt and I have run them over 100,000 miles on cars. (I do have a spare on the boat)
