So I'm sure I'm not the only one who's thought of this but has anyone ever cut into the floor of their boat?
I'm contemplating cutting into the floor in my 99 super air to relocate my battery so it's 80% or so recessed into the floor under the rear wrap around seat area.
I'm thinking cut the floor and remove the foam, glass it back up and then have the option of installing the plastic battery box. This way it would maximize storage space and still make for easy access to the battery if necessary.
To the best of my knowledge there's nothing in this are of the boat besides flotation, cutting the hole and removing the foam would be simple and it would be very easy to glass the hole back up and vacuum bag it for a nice clean water tight compartment. I could even build in a small drain in case water ever made it's way into the box that would just drain into the bilge.
What are your guys thoughts?
PS I borrowed someone's photo, excuse the 10sec photoshop lol.
