    Rotating the pylon

Our club has a new 2005 196 and we are having a problem with the pylon. It seems that the hole is not directly in the front of the pylon and as a result when we mount a trick release it is rotated to one side pretty severely.

My question, has anyone ever loosened the pylon and rotated it and if so how?

    Thanks

    RE: Rotating the pylon

There are three U-bolts that hold the pylon in the boat. there is a 3/4 inch locking nut on each end of the U-bolts, six nuts total. the nuts are facing aft, below the floor, underneath the front pulley on the engine. Loosten the nuts, and the pylon will spin. Put the pylon where you want it, and tighten the nuts. check the nuts for tightness after you use the boat once, and for a few times after, until they stay tight.

My 05 206 was delivered with the same issue, my trick release pin was about 10 degrees off.

Ended up only having to loosen the top 4 nylocks to rotate the pylon. Called CC and left a message about the pylon. I got a return call within about 20 minutes. They were unaware that this was a common occurance and are going to fix the problem during assembly. Not a huge deal rotating but should definately not be necessary on a brand new boat.
