    FCT Tower Repair

    HI guys!

i had the unfortunate event of bumping into another boat a couple of days ago.

tower looks like the attached pics,

i was thinking about taking it to a reputable metal workshop (and after having it fixed, probably
recoat the whole tower, as it already has a lot of scratches all around it).

We had a broken tower this past fall and was way worse than yours. That looks very fixable!

I'd say your on the right track and definitely repairable. If your going to keep the boat awhile you could powder coat the windshield frame at the same time. Make them both look new again.

Definitely fixable, you'll need to inspect everything else to make sure you didn't tweak more than you see there. Pull the top part of the tower off and set it on a flat surface to make sure you didn't rack (tweak) it. If you did I'd try to get the top section straight before you go any farther, if you start cracking welds or the tubing it might be best to just replace the tower.

I rebuilt a fct2 a few years ago from a boat that was sunk and rolled, the hardest part was finding a shop that could bend the tubing to perfectly match the other side, it's not something that can be done on a traditional bender.

If you were closer I'd offer to help, I'm always looking for an excuse to play with my welder.

great tips on power coating the windshield, and checking the top part's integrity. Will send pictures when fixed and re-powercoated!
          thanks guys
