found this in my bilge area..

3 weeks and 7 hours of use into owning 2006 nautique sv-211 puchased from a dealer. I found this black plastic piece in my bilge space near the plug after a day of use. im not sure if this has been in there the entire time i have owned the boat but it surfaced after having some stalling issues on the last outing. does any anyone recognize what this is? first inboard ski boat i have ever owned. thanks Click image for larger version

Thank guys looks to be spot on .. dealer changed steering cable before purchase last month. Gives me some peace of mind now hoping the stalling was only from weeds in the strainer. Boat had full service 7 hours ago

Stalling from weeds in the strainer does not sound right. That would cause an overheating issue but not a stall.

Steering cable has been replaced and that is a remnant part of the old cable, grease seal.

Srock is correct. Weeds in strainer would cause overheating. However if you bogged down at the same time, you could have had weeds wrapped around the prop and shaft. That’s happened to me before in weedy area of the lake. Had to go under water and pull off the mess to get going again.
