Repair Starboard Side Keypad? - 2000 Pro Air Nautique

So I found out my starboard side keypad on my 2000 Pro Air Nautique is not working. Found this link for the part, $400 bucks. Ouch!

Anyone on the forum been able to repair these? I realize they are sealed units, but are the electronics complicated if it could be opened, resealed?

You can try open it up and see if you can figure it out but I'd probably just spend the money on a new part.

I wish they could be opened and repaired i've replaced my port side pad 3x in the past 7 years. I now leave it unbolted and when the boat goes on the trailer it goes in a bag of rice. The way the dash is designed they seem to go bad due to sitting in a puddle for extended periods of time like after you wash it. Now mine get removed and placed in a sealed bag with rice and stored in a dry place.

Thanks for the tip, that's probably what I'm going to do. These things are too expensive to fail all the time.

Last week I found a post where someone had converted to analog switches. Can anyone help me find this post? I've searched keypad, toggle, starboard. Can't seem to find it.

If it was me I would take the sob apart before buying a new one...But that is just me. What I would do is use a soldering iron with a cutting tip and unseal from the back.

I bet it will be real simple inside. But that may or may not mean it is repairable...But I bet you can fix it.

only 3 wires come out of it, it sends signals to the computer below, problem is once you break the epoxy seal water can easily get in there. Water is a conductor, overtime you push a button its like holding it down, you will have problems with starter staying engaged or the horn blowing......ask me how I know. There was a right up on here at one time on how to bypass all of it.
