    Edelbrock carb and intake

Anyone using an Edelbrock carb and intake on a 302?

    If so then which models??

I am running a 302 with 351 windsor heads. Not sure what the carb is that I have.

    Thanks!

that's pretty foolish using 351 heads on a 302 since the mounting bolts are undersized for the 351 heads.

Well that is what came with the boat and when I went to purchase the reman that is what they had to replace it. If they are building them that way there must not be too much of a problem. If it is then it would be them that are the foolish ones!!!

There is nothing foolish about that, so what if the mounting holes are 1/2". ARP sells stepped washers so that you can use those heads. Most after market heads are drilled for the 351W, especially Ford's. I have done it serveral times on a 302 application and there have never been issues.

I used an Edelbrock #1409 on my 351W, which is the only you will be able to use(marine wise) from Edelbrock. You will absolutely need to tune it with their calibration kit #1485, as it is probably a little too big for a 302. It will work though and you should be able to dial it in.

I don't know why you think this, you obviously have no clue. People put 351W heads on 302's all the time. From ARP's website for Head studs with T-washers.

            M-6049-J302, SVO high port & M-6049-L302, AFR 185
Edelbrock aluminum , GT-40 style with insert “T” washer

These work just fine with no reliability issues. There is nothing Half-A$$ed about it.

Well I have talked to the engine manufacturer about this and he said that FORD did this for most of there earily marine application both LH and RH rotations. They cool better due to the L port water jackets.

              Oh well.....

Thanks for that Edelbrock info. I am going to put my intake and mistery carb on for now and see what I get.

              Everyone have a great one!!!
