    DEXCOOL for PCM engines

I cannot find any of the pinkish/red DEXCOOL that is currently in my 2014 ZR409 engine. I need to top off the reservoir since in Fall I pulled the wrong screw off the heat exchanger and drained a little of the closed cooling anti-freeze. I realized very quickly it was not water and stuck it back on, lol.

So at Autozone today....I found some of the Prestone "GM approved" DEXCOOL in the Ethylene Glycol (don't think DEXCOOL even comes in the Propylene Glycol does it?).
Anyway, this is Orange in color but says "compatible with other DEX-COL approved coolants" on the bottle.
I have spent hours searching google today, looked on the PCM website, etc.....but no-where does it say if the Ethylene Glycol is the stuff that comes OEM in the boat, only that DEXCOOL is what they use and recommend for use. I have also ready that the Propylene is not normally used for closed cooling even tho I know that the Raptor engines do have a green colored one that they use. Pretty sure I am good using this after all the reading I did today but nothing I could find was specific to boat engine, 99% about cars/trucks.

I don't need much, 1/2 gallon at most, but don't want to take any chances, so just want to confirm that I am good to go with what I bought. If I gotta drain the entire system, flush it and then put new in, I will. But obviously prefer to go with it ONLY IF this is the right stuff. (I know to use distilled water when diluting)
    Thanks for the help

Call Discount Inboard Marine or your dealer for clarification. Also, you can get pure 100% Dexcool or 50/50 already mixed Dexcool. You need to find out which to use.

It's pure DEXCOOL and they use the orange color at dealership and said it looks pinkish once in. But I did have the correct stuff. Thx

The orange Dex should be propylene glycol and should be available at any auto parts store. Dont want ethylene glycol, which used to be the old green stuff. I think someone is producing an orange ethylene glycol thats stated as GM approved.

The Prestone brand that I got is ethylene glycol (orange color) and that is what the dealer told me they use for PCM engines and what I am supposed to us....but in extensive research online over last 2 days, I cannot find ANY Dex-cool antifreeze that has propylene glycol in it. This is of course for the closed cooling, not for fresh water intake so it will not drain out of boat.
I just wanted to make sure I would not have an issue. This bottle does say its compatible with other Dex-cool antifreeze and I read that you can mix propylene and ethylene without issue, if mixed it can just reduce the long term efficiency. But I guess ethylene is what is currently in there cause I cannot find anything else

In my 2007 engine manual it says that Dex-cool is ETHYLENE GLYCOL BASED.

ENGINE MAINTENANCE - 11 FILLING FRESH-WATER COOLING SYSTEM
A new extended life engine coolant known as DEX-
COOL™ is used in your engine(s). It is imperative to note the following about DEX-COOL™ engine coolant: • IT IS PINK IN COLOR TO DISTINGUISH IT
            FROM CONVENTIONAL COOLANT.
            • THE SERVICE CHANGE INTERVAL ON
ENGINES BUILT WITH DEX-COOL™ IS 5
            YEARS.
            • TO MAINTAIN FULL CORROSION
            PROTECTION DURABILITY, DEX-COOL™
MUST NOT BE MIXED WITH CONVENTIONAL (CONTAINING SILICATE) ENGINE COOLANTS. • DEX-COOL™ IS AN ETHYLENE GLYCOL
BASED PRODUCT, THEREFORE, BOIL AND FREEZE PROTECTION ARE MEASURED IN THE SAME FASHION AS CONVENTIONAL
            COOLANTS.
TO FULLY REALIZE ITS MANY ADVANTAGES,
DEX-COOL™ MUST NEVER BE MIXED WITH
            CONVENTIONAL COOLANTS.
            DEX-COOL™ can become contaminated by
            inadvertently topping-off with conventional coolant,
adding conventional coolant to the system or even if
fi ll/drain containers are shared between coolants. If
contamination occurs, the cooling system must be
immediately drained and fl ushed, and refi lled with DEX- COOL™. No short-term damage will occur, however, the service interval will be reduced from 5 years to 2
            years.
