    ZR6 rev

2006 ZR 6 w/ 500 hrs. Cold start boat cranks right over and settles in to 600 rpm idle. The engine revs intermittently when dropping boat in and out of gear when picking up skier or coming into the dock. May rev to 1100-1200 just for a second then drop back to a normal idle rpm. Any ideas? I've thought throttle body issue because it's random. Electrical or vacuum issue would be more regular.

I might think throttle position sensor (on your throttle) if your issue is related to in and out of gear.

Has this changed recently? As I recall, the 2006 had a throttle flare issue. If this isn't a recent change but an issue that you have already had, you should contact PCM for a software update in your ECM. I do know there was one available that resolved the flare issue.

I had the ECM reflashed and it seemed to temporarily be the solution. The problem came back after 10-15 hours. The revving is only from forward idle into neutral . Doesn't happen at speed ever. Some days it won't happen at all then other days a decent amount. TPS was replaced and is supposed to be properly adjusted.

Try disconnecting the throttle cable at the throttle body and make sure the cable isn't touching. See if it does the same thing with it disconnected. If it doesn't, you need to adjust the throttle cable. Spin a few turns to make the cable hold it closed harder in neutral. Make sure the transmission cable is adjusted properly, The transmission lever should be in the middle of the neutral detent position when the throttle box is in the middle of neutral.
