    Early Excalibur 330 Fuel Filters

For anyone with Late 2002 / early 2003 to about 2007 or so Excalibur 330, add a fuel a filter before the low pressure fuel pump. I had fuel delivery problem at the very end of last season. When I removed the low pressure pump and pulled it apart, there was some crud inside. The low pressure pump has a screen, but that is not really a great filter.

I replaced the low pressure pump, the high pressure pump, the little high pressure feed hose, the FCC filter, send and return fuel lines, added the fuel filter and made sure the anti-siphon valve was clean and functioning properly. I used the PCM 40 micron they used 2008 and after. Other than my white zip-ties, it looks factory.

I run ethanol fuel and do not add any treatments. I also do not add anything in the winter to my fuel. I store in my garage, and the temps drop, but I leave less than a quarter tank of gas each season.

I replaced the fuel lines thinking the ethanol was starting to eat them away. Really, they looked fine and were still flexible. I hope to be good to go now. If only the weather would cooperate.

Your winter layup procedures may have been some of the cause... You should ALWAYS leave the tank full during winter months as the transitions from cool/warm will cause condensation inside the tank which leads to water in the fuel. Add that to ethanol fuel and you are more prone to gunk. I personally run Seafoam in mine for Winter months and try to run non-ethanol fuel when available... especially for Winter layup! Knock on wood I've never had a fueling issue in 14 years.
