Zero Off issue discovered - 2018 G23 - Speed Surges when pressing horn!

Discovered a strange issue this past weekend on my 2018 G23. When underway (at surf speeds, wakeboard speeds, back to dock, etc) and Zero Off speed control engaged, if you press and hold the horn button, the horn blasts, however, you also get a surge (like WOT) and the boat speeds up by 4-5mph. At the same time, the screen shows that the boat is actually slowing down (by 4-5mps) but when you release the horn button, it quickly displays the actual faster speed you are going as it returns back to the set speed.

When I told my dealer about it yesterday they indicated that they had another customer who had reported the issue but that they didn't know it was as bad as I was reporting and they also didn't know about the speedometer showing a slower speed instead. I have also confirmed someone else at my lake that has a 2018 G23 has the same issue - so appears to be an issue with all boats (at least G boats) for 2018. Anyone else have this issue? Apparently, Nautique is aware of the issue but no fix currently available.

My 2017 G23 did the same thing..... figured it out one day while surfing by a friends house when I beeped at them.

i never asked anything about it, because I don’t run around laying on the horn while surfing, so it was never a problem for me. I’m pretty sure the problem has to do with the sound frequency from the horn messing with the gps signal. Either way..... I made a mental note, and went on with my day.

We're discussing this over on the Nautique Owners page on FB. I'm not a Nautique engineer, but it sure sounds to me like the horn is somehow causing a voltage drop or something that's telling the speedo that the boat is running slower. The Zero Off is then trying to compensate.

Can someone with a 2018 G21/G25/GS/2x0 try this and report back? I'm curious to see if this problem is limited to the G23.

EDIT: Just got confirmation from a 2018 GS20 owner. Same problem.

Also, if someone has a 2018 with the "Paddle Wheel for River Mode" option, please enable River Mode and test it that way. I'm betting the speedo drops, but the boat and Zero Off maintain the same speed since the paddle wheel is talking to the Zero Off now.

My money is on a voltage drop. The fix would be to isolate the horn circuit and test, if that fixes it make the horn circuit a permanent separate line.

If the horn is located close to the GPS, my bet is that the horn is causing interference when energized.

It looks like an awesome safety feature. When you use the horn you should definitely slow down. And when done using the horn then you are safe to speed back up.

Except is does the opposite (it speeds up but says its slowing down)

Verified today that this happens on the 2018 PN G23 as well. Crazy!
