Idle not dropping down

Hi PN.

Got a pretty consistent issue with the idle. I have the 5.0 PCM with TBI. Basically when I drop at the end of a pass the idle is high (1100rpms). If I put the boat in gear it will drop to 680. Basically does it at the end of every pass at this point. Does it cold and hot.

Could it be a vacuum issue? I was looking to see if there was a throttle return spring but didn’t really notice it.

Boat runs smooth as a top otherwise.

IAC valve would be the first thing that comes to mind.

To add to this now that I have a minute - next time it does it, while running pop off the flame arrestor and look for the port the idle air control valve pulls air from. Cover it with your finger. If your idle comes down (or goes so low that the engine dies or almost dies) it's likely your IAC has failed as it's stuck or not reacting appropriately to meter the airflow down. The passage-way itself may also need a cleaning (carb cleaner) to prevent fouling up a new valve.

Looks like it was an issue with some slack in the throttle cable that was causing the butterfly valve to not close all the way. Worked great today
