Bed liner on the swim platform?

I have a 2016 G23 with a white swim platform. I do plenty of time on my Air Chair (skyski, foiling). When putting the chair on the swim platform, it tends to ding the gelcoat along the edge and looks a little beat up. I was wondering about putting some bedliner material along the edge of the fiberglass, suspecting it would hold up a lot better. My 2002 Tige had a completely rhino lined teak swim platform and it was awesome. But that was a long time ago, and this would be just along the edges, so that I could preserve the SeaDek on the step. It comes in a white color, which I am worried may fade or yellow with time.

Anyone have experience with it? Or have a better idea?

I tried putting some spare pieces of Sea Dek along the edge, but it just got cut up.
I tried some material like this, but it fell off: https://www.trimlok.com/secure/reque...26Quantity%3d1
I even tried thin aluminum sheets with adhesive on them, but it only is good on completely flat surfaces, since it is thin alluminum. I cannot find the link for those now, but it came from England.

Bed liner sounds like a good idea to me...I have also seen people use the 3M material but dont know how well that would hold up against a foil. I actually got to try a wake foil for first time last weekend and had a blast. Lot of fun, hoping to try an air chair at some point too. Hard to drop that kind of money till I know I will enjoy it.

I would think it would work . The only issue would be when it dings it would leave a chunk . If it’s not prepped properly it will peel . We spray bedliner and prep is extremely important

Yeah i would be worried it would peel easily gel coat is pretty slippery where as your old teak platform was very porous. It would all be in the prep if they can get it to adhere properly.

I pur 3M protective tape on mine. Fairly easy to do and it holds up well. A sharp fin will cut it but better the tape than the surface it is protecting. I replace mine every couple of years and am very happy with the job it does. Just remember to put lots of baby shampoo/water on the surface as you apply. The material is transparent, protects from UV, and will not yellow. Reasonably easy to get off and leaves no residue on the surface.

I've wondered about this as well, but don't have any experience with bedliner material on gelcoat.

I wish Nautique would use some sort of metal trim around the platform edge like many other manufacturers.

I may be the minority here, but I wish Nautique still offered a teak platform like MC. I know they require maintenance, but in my opinion its easier to maintain a teak than gelcoat with Seadek. Its hard to wax and buff around the Seadek to prevent/remove oxidation.

This is an option. If my swimstep were teak, I would just sand it down when ready to sell the boat and be done with it. Last I checked, it was something like $700. But when I think the guy wants $450 to rhino line it, It doesn't seem as steep. Teak is a little bit of maintenance, but nothing is prettier, IMHO.

If you are strapping into the chair on the platform you should re-think that, it's actually easier to do in the water floating... well for guys who are not 6'-14" like you anyways
