    Exhaust tube replacement hel

I noticed a little seepage coming from where the exhaust tube connects to the rubber hose leaving the exhaust manifold. I tried to tighten the hose clamps and ended up crushing the fiberglass tube. Any suggestions for changing that out. I have the part on order, but having a **** of a time getting it out. 98 196 with the GT 40

I believe many end up taking off the riser. This gives you leverage to turn and pry a little as necessary. Make sure you have all gaskets and bolts ready to replace.

I did that last year. You either need to remove the manifolds or muffler. If it were me, I'd knock the manifold gaskets out at the same time. Like glassywater said, have the gaskets ready to go. NautiqueParts should have them handy. I also got a resurfacing abrasive kit from Auto Parts store to resurface them as they weren't clean. There is also a trick to torquing them down so they don't leak. Search the site here or google to get those instructions.

I got mine off without removing manifold. All I had to do was loosen at muffler and push the muffler side in as far as possible, then the manifold side had enough room to pull it off.

Also I had to push the rubber sleeve up as far as possible onto the manifold. After than the riser will just barely pull out. Takes some muscle and a lot of patience.
