I started having some bizarre problems the last two trips. First the stereo volume was cutting in and out. When we went back home I realized the iPhone cord had a bad cut in it. I replaced it. Yesterday when we were out, typically when accelerating the boat, the music would turn itself to maximum. Scared the daylights out of all of us and imagine the panic. I thought it might of been the rear puck so I disconnected it. I thought it might be my phone so we tried another. Cord already replaced. Seems like it might be a connection between iPhones and the auto throttle sensing volume control. We played the tuner and never had an issue. We’ve had the boat for 2 years and haven’t had any issues. Any ideas.

Thanks Infinity and MLA. We did run the boat all day Sunday and no issues. I'm guessing it sitting overnight with the Perko switch off was enough to reboot it. Oddly enough though, i noticed that my settings in Linc are now gone. No biggie as i only had a couple. This was the first time that had happened. When i got back home i did test both batteries and both were 95% so no issues there. The alternator was also testing fine. Interesting enough, you mentioned a bad remote and while doing my own troubleshooting on the head unit, i realized it has/had a remote. Boat didn't come with one but it would come in handy when we are floating. I'll be researching a way to find one.

I have experienced this same issue on my 2013. I think the source is volume control thru the Linc screen. I recently unpluged the remote wire from Linc and added a remote at the helm. I prefer the separate control anyway and think that should do it. I will not be completely sure thats the fix until several more trips as it would only do it periodically.

The auto adjust was my first thought also. Turned that off a couple years back but the problem persisted. I forget where there setting is, main menu/Linc settings, something like that. The best I can figure is that sometimes the radio does not react when press the volume controls up or down, and let's say you press the button 15 times before it starts adjusting, then all of a sudden, sheter it be 15 minutes or three hours later the Linc system remembers all those presses and volume goes through the roof. You press like **** to turn it down, because you have to go to a different screen to mute, and then eventually is goes all the way to zero. Quite frustrating. At any rate, wired I the extra remote and no issues over two days. We'll see how the rest of the summer goes.

Well, my theory went out the window today. It took 4 days on the water but finally did it again. Volume suddenly went to 40 and I could not turn it down via the remote I installed at the helm. I have disconnected the remote wire for the display panel, so I assume I have isolated it to the head unit, perhaps that is the culprit.

Ok, unplugged rear remote and the problem still occurred after about two hours into our day. I have a brand new remote at the helm, surely it should not be faulty? Perhaps there is an issue with the head unit? Clarion CMD 7 (or 8?) I believe.
I can get it to turn down by turning the knob on the head unit, it takes a sec and it keeps going back up to 40 on the first few turns, then eventually turns down and then has proper control of the volume.
Not sure what to do at this point.

I’ve officially given up on the CMD7. Constant problems. The volume craziness persists. Now when I plug anything in via usb, I only get one side volume. Isolated all the amps and plugged them in directly to a source and everything was working fine. I’m on the hunt for a replacement head unit. Hopefully it’s easy to find one that will connect to linc
