    Vibration proble

I have a 2016 SAN 230. We finished off last year fine and did normal winterization. Earlier this year I took it to dealer to have new water impeller put in to start year. When I took boat out today for first time this year boat started fine and if going less than 5 mph had no issues. However when I tried to give it more gas the steering wheel would vibrate and the whole boat too. I turned it off thinking something was around the prop but nothing was. Pulled it out and checked prop and while it had some rough edges on one or two fins nothing that I would think would cause the sig vibration. I tightened the nut on the prop and it maybe tightened an 1/8 of an inch. Put it back in and still same issue. Do u think if my impeller was put in incorrectly it would cause the vibration? When I just rev the motor without engaging drive it is smooth w no vibration. I checked transmission fluid at it is fine. Thoughts??

No. An impeller will not do this. This is almost for sure a problem with the prop. It got dinged somewhere and now it's either out of balance or isn't tracking properly (one flute isn't in-line with the rest). Even a small deviation will cause all kinds of vibration.

Replace the prop and send the old one off to be rebuilt.

Try revving it up in neutral . No prop turn . If it isn’t vibrating then it’s your prop.

If it does vibrate then something is not tight on drive belts or balancer possibly

It does not vibrate while revving the engine. Only when drive shaft engaged. Just not sure how prop got damaged between final day out last year and first day out this year on 3 year old boat.

Has to be something with prop, shaft or rudder....likely its the prop, does not take much damage to prop to cause issues. Pics of prop?
Nettle props in Austin TX has great pricing on new props and if you buy a new prop, they will give you $50 off repair of old prop. They do a great job with repairs, i sent them one last year that came back looking brand new.

We hit a stick/small log with ours just idling... small vibration ensued when at speed. Popped on our spare and inspected the old one. I couldn’t see any imperfections but the new one had zero vibration. Sent the old one to get refurbished and it is as good as new.

Thx to lucky7t and infinity. Replaced prop with new one from nettle prop and boat works fine. Still not sure how old one got damaged but glad it fixed issue.

So send the old one off for repair and then keep it as a spare. Everyone needs to keep a spare prop around....
