2000 SAN - Only owned the boat a month or so. The actuator on the sunpad stopped raising - I think maybe the gas shock is bad because I can hear the motor trying to work. (btw - worked fine when I tested the boat before purchase) All connections seem fine and with a little assistance it will raise the pad. I did a search on this forum and found a couple of discussions from '05 and '08, neither really addressed the issue. (One was add handles and prop it open with a pole of some sort.)
I actually unhooked the pin from the shock arm and raised it manually for a weekend. No big deal just not the best option in my opinion.
Reached out to Nautique Parts - First response: I am sorry but those components are no longer available. The only option is to modify it to standard gas shocks and remove the hydraulic ram feature. You would lose the automatic raising and lowering. You would install a latch on the hatch to secure it closed and install standard gas shocks and brackets to assist with opening. It would require drilling and cutting the upholstery to install the latch.
So a DIY effort to replace the old and add two new shocks like this: https://www.nautiqueparts.com/produc...s-17-2-120lbs/
Seems like something I could do, but certainly would like some feedback from the group. Anyone done this? Could you send details or pictures?
Also I googled "linear actuator" and found this. https://www.firgelliauto.com/product...yABEgIy-_D_BwE
The Nautique guys responded: It may take some modification but as long as you double check the stroke compared to yours I'm sure it would work .
Any recommendations on this option? Not sure how to check the stroke on the current actuator unless its in the fine print some where.
Thoughts guys? Looking for easy, but also like the ability to raise it automatically with the current buttons.
