    Nautique and Gopro Linc setup

Well everyone I have been at this for months trying to get some answers about the problems myself and so many others were having with trying to connect my GoPro to my Linc system. Seems as if a bulletin was posted yesterday. At least now I know my problem was having GoPro Hero 6's. Hopefully some of you guys with the other models can get them connected. Happy Boating

Got mine working finally! Used the instructions from a post in April/May. It was called GoPro and Lina - a typo but that's the thread that got me in the black.

But you are using GoPro Hero 4 right? That is the only model that anyone can prove works...

Yes, I may just break down and get the Hero 4. It doesn't work with Hero 5 or 6.

After getting the hero 6 for Christmas, broke down and bought the 5 so it would work. Hard to connect, but I have the best luck when I do not put the go pro in pairing mode. Just let the boat find it and type in the password. I have spent hours playing with this stupid thing. Hopefully it works today

Is there any way to hard wire the GoPro in?

You cannot hardwire the gopro to the screen. But for the Hero 5 you can velcro the wifi remote to your dash. It fits nicely on the little fiberglass pad to the far lower right of the LINC display. I have also ordered a longer charging cable from Amazon and have it connected into one of the USB ports on the dash. This works very well. It always is charged an always attaches to the gopro about 20 seconds after powering up. It is a reasonable solution until there is an update to LINC which remedies the issue. Wifi remote:

I just wanted to add to this post. What i have found could be a issue with connecting the gopro. I have found when the gopro will not connect the issue is that the gopro connected to my phone because my phone wasn't connected to another wifi source. At the dock the Wifi source is strong and the gopro connected every time to the boat. When out on the lake it wouldn't connect and then the light bulb went off. Maybe its connected to my phone , and sure enough it was. I turned off the Wifi on the phone and retried it and it connected with no issue. So if you are having a issue please look at that first. I'm also using a Hero 4 Silver

I've been looking at different posts about issues with the GoPro pairing on the Nautique's I have a 2019 G23 and a GoPro Hero 7. At first I could not get it to pair with Linc Panoray. But now it connects reliably.. Here is what I learned by piecing together from different posts:
                      • The GoPro needs to be paired with a phone first
                      • The GoPro WiFi needs to be switched to 2.4Ghz
                      • note the WiFi passwrod on your GoPro
                      • Once on the boat disable WiFi on your phone OR on your phone change the WiFi profile for the GoPro WiFi network to manual connect (this means that your phone will not try to connect to the GoPro WiFi network until you make it connect by hand)
                        • What ever option you choose here this is the most important step
                      • Now follow the pairing process as described in the Nautique manual
It turns out that the GoPro's can only be controlled by one device at a time.. And when you are on your boat your phone will want to connect to the GoPro's WiFi network as it has the strongest signal and it will not let the boat connect to it.. You can get lucky and win the connection race with the boat but all it takes restarting the GoPro to change the battery and then you won't be able to connect.. Simply disable the WiFi on your phone and magic will happen

I spoke with Nautique Customer Care and they sent me the same information the Luisu_Wake posted above.
                        • The GoPro needs to be paired with a phone first

All GoPro Cameras from version 4 forward will work with the Linc Panoray system. The key with the 6 and 7 is the change them from 5 GHz down to 2.4 GHz and forget the phone connection before trying to pair the camera to the boat.

                        Direct from Nautique:

Making a GoPro connection to your phone and then to the boat can be tricky, so certain steps must be taken if you are not successful the first time. Here are the steps to take before connecting the GoPro to the LINC Panoray:

                        1. Download GoPro app to your (or the customer’s) phone

                        2. Follow the GoPro app instructions for connecting a new GoPro

                        3. Once the GoPro is connected via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, test it by making sure you can control the GoPro through your phone and stream video to your phone. This part is tricky
because the GoPro camera has both types of wireless connection and both are used when you pair the camera to your phone.

                        4. If you are unsuccessful connecting the GoPro to your phone, you must rectify this before attempting to connect to the LINC Panoray. Before re-trying a connection between the GoPro and your phone,
                        a. On your phone, go into your phone’s Bluetooth menu and “forget” the GoPro.
                        b. On your phone, go into your phone’s Wi-Fi menu and “forget” the GoPro Wi-Fi connection too.
                        c. On your phone, go into the GoPro app and delete the GoPro.
                        d. On your GoPro, go into the GoPro camera’s settings and “reset Wi-Fi”

                        5. Once all Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections are forgotten/deleted/reset, then you can attempt to connect the GoPro to your phone again. Once you establish a functional connection between the GoPro and your phone, this completes the initial GoPro Setup with your phone. You should now have a GoPro name and GoPro password to use when connecting to the LINC Panoray.

*IMPORTANT* You must disconnect your phone’s Wi-Fi from the GoPro before connecting to the LINC Panoray. Failure to do so may result in an unreliable connection between the GoPro and the LINC Panoray. To connect GoPro to LINC Panoray:

                        1. Before you begin • On your phone, go to the Wi-Fi settings and disconnect your phone’s Wi-Fi from the GoPro if it’s still connected. Once this step is completed, put your phone away because it is no longer required. The GoPro can be connected to the LINC Panoray directly from now on. • On the Panoray GoPro Settings page, go to SAVED GOPRO CAMERAS and delete your camera from the list if it is still there from a previously failed attempt to connect. If it isn’t deleted first, Panoray will not be able to connect it as a new camera.

                        2. Check LINC software in System Info as software date 7/27/2018 added Hero6 and Hero7, software 10/11/2018 improved GoPro connectivity issues

                        3. On the GoPro, make sure Wi-Fi is still turned ON

                        4. *IMPORTANT* GoPros Hero6 Hero7 need to have their Wi-Fi set to 2.4GHz not the default 5GHz, failure to change will result in connectivity issues

                        5. Obtain the GoPro Name and Password, then exit the GoPro’s settings menu. Failure to exit the GoPro’s settings menu may prevent LINC Panoray from displaying the preview image on the GoPro Control page. • On GoPros with touchscreens, navigate to the menu which displays the camera Name and Password – remember or write them down. • On GoPros without touchscreens, you must remember the name and password you created in the initial setup. • You will not need to do anything further with the GoPro for the connection process.

                        6. On the LINC Panoray GoPro page, go to NEW GOPRO CAMERA and scan for new GoPro cameras if none appear automatically

                        7. Select your GoPro and enter the password when prompted.

                        8. Wait up to 30 seconds for the Connection status to change to “CONNECTED”.

                        9. On the Control tab, tap the preview graphic to start the preview and proceed with using the system. If you are able to view the live video preview, you have succeeded in connecting the GoPro to the LINC Panoray.

Initial GoPro Setup – use GoPro camera and your phone only Connecting GoPro to LINC Panoray Once a GoPro camera has been completely set up and previously connected to the LINC Panoray display, the GoPro must be reconnected by the user each time the system is rebooted. The reconnection process is simple:

                        1. Turn on the GoPro and make sure its Wi-Fi is also turned on. *doublecheck that your phone does not automatically connect to the GoPro at this time*

                        2. Once the GoPro’s Wi-Fi is turned on, exit the GoPro’s settings menu. The camera will not stream video while in a settings menu.

                        3. On the LINC Panoray, go to the GoPro page Settings tab

                        4. Touch SAVED GOPRO CAMERAS and select the desired GoPro. Reconnection is complete. Test the connection by starting the preview on the LINC Panoray
