2014 SAN 210 Speedo reads Zero after dealer visit

Finally had a few hours free today and got my boat off the lift for the first time this spring. Of course, the speedo is stuck on 0, so NSS is non functional as well as the speed control.

I have a paddlewheel speed control, not GPS. I swam under the boat and the wheel turns freely.

I was having lock up issues with the screen last year, so when I had the dealer winterize the boat I asked them to update the Lynx software. It makes me wonder if they have a parameter set wrong and maybe my controller is looking for a GPS signal?

Any other ideas? The wires seem intact, I can’t see anything wrong.

On the bright side, we had 20” of snow a month ago, and today the water is 80 degrees!

If parameter is wrong, you may be able to go into the dealer settings and change it from GPS to paddle wheel (if that is an option in your screen....I do not remember seeing anything in my dealer settings about speed options, but if that was an option that year, perhaps yours will have it). Ask dealer for the code when you talk to them so you can check it out. May depend on how well you know them on whether they give it out or not.

Ok, I got the code and no dice on the paddlewheel vs gps option.

      Any other ideas?

Find the paddle wheel inside, then trace the wiring to make sure it didn't get unplugged during your dealer visit

I would agree that it must be something in the wiring, I know you said you checked the wiring....check your ground wires for sure and I would double check all the wiring by removing and re-installing securely, wiggling, etc. If that does not work then maybe they need to run the software update again tho that seems to not be the case here.

Found the issue - at last! One side of the paddlewheel has just enough friction from the “guard” fins to make it stick. Straightened it out and works perfect.

Of course during my work I also reconnected my blower electrical plug and tubing, which the dealer left disconnected after winterizing it...

Was one of the fins bent?

Yes, one side was bent. I straightened it and it’s good to go!
