    Ford 351 ignition timing

Can someone confirm how to check my ignition timing on PCM Ford 351, firing order 13726548. Is the timing gun connected on cylinder number 1 (front starboard) or 8 rear port side..? Mine appears correct when using number 8? Might be a stupid question, but I'm normally a chevy man.

Connect the timing gun to cylinder #1 (front starboard). If you have a GT40 with EFI you need to disconnect the spout connector which should be hanging near the distributor. The spout connector keeps the computer from adjusting the timing and allows you to check the base timing. Below is an article I found with a quick yahoo search that shows you how to do it on a Mustang. It's exactly the same for a boat.
